MS Band Programs

Lincoln Trail

The band program begins in 5th grade. Any student who wants to learn to play a musical instrument can participate.

At the beginning of the school year, directors introduce students to various instruments, hold an evening parent interest meeting, and then set up appointments with families to match students with instruments.

The 5th grade band presents two concerts during the school year: a winter concert in December and a spring concert in May. 

Jr. High School

Students choosing to be part of the band program at the Jr. High School will continue to develop their skills as a musician.

6th Grade Band - The 6th grade band presents two concerts during the school year: a winter concert in December and a spring concert in May. 

7th and 8th Grade Bands - The 7th and 8th grade bands present three concerts during the school year: a fall concert in November, a spring concert in March, and a lighter "POPS" concert with the high school bands in May. 

Jazz Band - 7th and 8th grade band students are eligible to audition for the Jr. High Jazz Band. This extra-curricular group rehearses after school November-February and performs at competitions and at the Jazz Band Dinner/Dance.

High School

Marching Band - All high school band members are part of the Marching Band. The Marching Band performs at all home football games and competes in several marching festivals in the fall. For more information about Marching Band, please visit the Parent Marching Band FAQ page. 

Concert Bands - The two Concert Bands are open to any high school band student. These bands perform a winter concert in February and at the 7-12 grade "POPS" concert in May.

Wind Ensemble - Students entering grades 10-12 may audition to join the Wind Ensemble. Auditions are held early in the spring semester before fall course selection. The Wind Ensemble performs a winter concert in February and at the 7-12 grade POPS concert in May. 

Jazz Band - The Jazz Band is an extracurricular band, rehearsing after school from November through February.  Students audition for this band in the spring. The group competes at several jazz festivals and performs at the Jazz Band Dinner/Dance.

Pep Band - The Pep Band is an extracurricular band, directed by Sarah Zittler. The group serves as a pep band at home basketball games.
