Syria-Internet Service -- Internet service in Syria resumes after 20-hour outage

China Central Television (CCTV) - Internet service resumed in Syria on Wednesday after an outage of more than 20 hours.

On Thursday, Syria's state-media said the outage had been caused by a damage in the main internet line at around 21:00 on Tuesday.

The Internet blackout affected 3G service and other services.

Syrians have been used to such outages, as the rebels frequently attack the country's infrastructure facilities, according to reports."The damage occurred in the main internet line connecting Damascus and city ofHoms, not far from town of Halster in northeastern suburb of Damascus. There are many rebels lingering in this region. They caused troubles to maintenance personnel from arriving at the site," said Ragheed Ruz, assistant director of Syrian Communication Foundation.

About a year ago, the rebels attacked a key power line near Damascus, causing a blackout in the capital and much of southern Syria.
