Course Overview

In this course we will look at the many integrated features of the Microsoft Word / Excel package. Microsoft products are one of the most commonly used software packages world wide. The course requires a high degree of “self-initiative” to be successful and produce a good product.

You should look at your work as a representation of the best you can be. Many items you produce will be viewable by people around the world. This means you will need to put in a serious organized effort to do well in this course. If you feel you need extra assistance I will be glad to help you. We are on the same team and we share the responsibility of being successful.

What is expected of you:

    • Step up and take the initiative.

    • All work is due on the “Due Date”. Late work is not accepted for full credit. Late work is not part of a successful plan

    • If you are absent, you may turn the work in the same number of days late you were absent

    • It is your responsibility to find out what you missed

    • Be on time for class

    • Stay in your seat until the bell rings

    • Come to class ready and prepared to learn

What works:

    • Take notes – You may use any notes you take in class or from the textbook on any test or quiz that I will be giving. You must have your notes with you when class begins.

    • Get involved and solve problems

    • Take intellectual risks and learn from the process of solving problems

    • Turn everything in regardless of how you think you did

    • Ask Questions

Things that Don’t Work:

    • Asking to go to your locker after class begins

    • Asking to go to the restroom as soon as class begins

    • Not taking the initiative to be prepared for class (have your materials, textbook, etc…)

    • Trying to guess how little you have to do to pass the class
