What is the Chromebook Academy?

The Chromebook Academy is one of our professional development courses that will take you through the many different technologies we use in our district from the Chromebook carts in every teaching space to using Gmail and Google Drive for efficient workflow.

As you complete the different modules (or units) of the Chromebook Academy, you will earn a Digital Badge (shown right), and you will earn the "finisher" badge after completing all of the modules.

Why do I need to complete the Chromebook Academy?

All of the certificated staff in the Monroe School District, as a part of the MEA bargaining agreement, will be provided with a device to use while in service of the district. We want to make sure you have all of the information and training needed to used your device as effectively as possible, and so, as a part of receiving the device, you need to complete the 6 hour professional development requirement to keep the device.

The MEA Collective Bargaining Agreement, Section 3.A.1, paragraph 2 states: "Beginning in the 2016/17 school year, teachers participating in a District professional development training will be provided a portable electronic device."

By completing the Chromebook Academy, you will have satisfied the professional development requirement to keep the Chromebook while you’re an employee of MSD.

How do I test out of the Chromebook Academy?

You have 2 different options:

  1. Become a Google Certified Educator and email a copy of your certificate to Niall Trimble
  2. If you are proficient with the content in the modules, complete all 7 Knowledge Checks and the Summative Assessment for the course.
