Use of Non-Class time

Dual enrollment students may take classes at school:

Double period two days per per week. Student schedule is blocked out for the whole week.

Unscheduled class time may be spent as follows:

College Institute lounge; Media Center; Supporting a member of teaching staff

Students are required to submit a Use of Time Planner to the CI Coordinatator and update it each semester or as per significant change

Dual enrollment students may take classes at school that are blended (partially online with only one lecture per week and time allocated, usually twice a week for the completion of online assignments). An example of this is World Music which has one lecture per week (Wednesdays) and two days Monday and Friday allocated to online assignments generally completed in the Media Center, CI lounge or for example, in the Computer Science Lab Mr. Milligan’s consent.

Dual enrollment students may take classes at school that are wholly online. No specific allocation of class time is made to the student’s schedule. Students use the unscheduled time at their discretion to complete assignments and reading for the class.

Dual enrollment students may take classes on MC campus (Rockville or Germantown). The student’s schedule indicates travel twice a week usually after 4th period. On the days that the students do not travel to MC campus their unscheduled time is spent in the CI lounge or as indicated by them on their Use of Time planner submitted to the CI coordinator at the start of each semester.

Students travelling to lectures on campus are required to sign out of the main office before leaving on their on campus instructional days.

Use of Time planner

Students prepare their UoT in consultation with the CI Coordinator and their teachers.

College credit classes anticipate that students will allocate a minimum of 3 hours per week to reading and assignments outside of the lecture/class time

Student attendance is monitored during CI class times by the MC instructors and absences reported to the CI coordinator.

The CI coordinator does not maintain an attendance record of students spending time in the CI lounge related to their unscheduled class time.
