Early College Program

To participate in the program students must meet the following minimum requirements at the time of application:

  • Be enrolled in 10th grade at an MCPS high school during the current school year;
  • Passed mathematics and English state assessments;
  • Have an unweighted GPA of 2.75 or higher at the time of application to the program;
  • Have met or be near completion of required SSL hours

All interested students will be invited to participate if they meet all MC requirements and program qualifications.

Early College (EC) Associate degree program is offered on Montgomery College's Rockville campus for qualifying MCPS students. The EC program provides the option of earning an Associate of Arts in Teaching, Secondary Mathematics or an Associate of Science, Mathematics track degree. Participating students will complete their 11th and 12th grade years of high school while simultaneously completing their first two years of college. They will graduate with an Associate's degree from MC as well as a Maryland State High School diploma.

Students accepted into the Early College program take all their courses on campus and have no classes at High School.

Interested GHS sophomores must commplete the online expession of interest form in the spring of 2019. Interested students and/or parents/guardians are also invited to attend an information session on the Rockville Campus of MC.

To participate in the program students must have at least the following by the end of Grade 10:

  • Earned Tech credit and PE/Health credit;
  • Taken mathematics and English state assessments;
  • Assessed college ready and prepared to take Calculus in the fall;
  • Have an unweighted GPA of 2.75 or higher at the end of their 10th grade year;
  • Met or be near completion of required SSL hours;
  • Completed interest form and attended information session.

Transportation to and from the college campus will be the responsibility of the student.
