Chemistry

Our Orientation lessons will cover:  

1.   An overview of the Unit 3 and 4 course outlines and SACs.

2.  An introduction to Energy from Fuels and a review of general science skills. Relevant links with content related to these are Heinemann Chemistry 2 Chapter 2 and Heinemann Chemistry 2 Chapter 1.4. The worked solutions to questions from Chapter 2.1 and Chapter 1.4 are also available.

Consolidation questions to be completed during orientation are:

• Section 2.1, p67, Q1-7

• Section 2.5, p97-98, Q1-9

• Section 1.4, p44-45, Q1-8

3.  An experiment to introduce practical skills related to calculating the energy from fuels.

4.  You will be expected to complete some holiday homework questions and self correct before returning to school in 2026. These questions will be from some key areas of Units 1 and 2 that are relevant to Units 3 and 4. Printed copies of the questions will be provided in class to take home with you. These are to be taken home, completed and handed in on the first day of classes in 2026.
