Below you will find lesson resources for each of the 2nd grade digital citizenship standards from the 2022 Technology Application TEKS.
Digital citizenship-- social interactions. The student identifies appropriate ways to communicate in various digital environments. The student is expected to participate in digital environments to develop responsible and respectful interactions.
2.7 I can participate in a digital environment in a responsible and respectful way.
Seesaw Lesson: Bean Goes on the Internet Students will discuss what the internet is and how to make safe choices on the internet.
Nearpod Lesson: Pausar y pensar en línea In this Spanish version of the Common Sense lesson on Digital Citizenship, students learn the "Pause & Think Online" song, to remember basic digital citizenship concepts in order to help them leverage technology safely, responsibly, and ethically.
Digital citizenship-- ethics and laws. The student recognizes and practices responsible, legal, and ethical behavior while using digital tools and resources. The student is expected to:
(A) explain and demonstrate acceptable use of digital resources and devices as outlined in local policies or acceptable use policy (AUP);
(B) communicate an understanding that all digital content has owners and explain the importance of respecting others' belongings as they apply to digital content and information.
2.8A I can explain and show the importance of the acceptable use of digital resources and devices that are outlined in the acceptable use policy.
2.8B I can understand that everything online, like pictures, videos, and websites, belongs to someone. I also know it’s important to be kind and respectful by not taking or using things that don’t belong to me.

Digital citizenship-- privacy, safety, and security. The student practices safe, legal, and ethical digital behaviors to become a socially responsible digital citizen. The student is expected to
(A) demonstrate account safety, including creating a strong password and logging off accounts and devices;
(B) compare and contrast private and public information and discuss what is safe to be shared online and with whom;

Discovery Education: Being Safe on the Internet: Students learn how to use a strong and appropriate password for digital devices to keep their personal information safe. 2:41 min. video
Discovery Education video: Safe Passwords 3:44 min. Video overview exploring the basic rules of Internet safety and why it’s important to be safe when online. Students will meet a Cyber Security Engineer at Raytheon Technologies.

Nearpod Lesson: Screen Out the Mean In this Digital Citizenship lesson, students learn children can act like bullies when they’re online. They explore what cyberbullying is and what can be done when they encounter it.
