The living word wall is an ever evolving list of words organized by category. In my class, I have words associated with content areas, general academic vocabulary, and ELA words. These are words that we come across daily in our lessons, readings, and conversations. Many times, I preteach vocabulary using a google slide show to build background before reading. Then, I just print out the "cards" and add them to our word wall. The best part is that they students have the slideshow in their shared drive. This creates a virtual library of all the academic vocabulary we encounter throughout the year. We revisit the words often, play games with them, and use them in our writing.
