TRAVEL PROJECT INTRODUCTION
¡Felicitaciones, amigos! (Congratulations, friends!)
You get to plan your self a SPRING BREAK TRIP to a Spanish Speaking country of your choice!
TASK:
Making it as realistic as possible, a Spring Break trip will consist of 6 days (not including travel there and departure). During your trip you need to visit at least 3 different cities and stay in each a minimum of 2 nights.
You need to decide where to begin your trip, when to travel for the best weather and best rate, what round trip flights to take, how and where to exchange money, and the best places to stay, shop and eat.
You'll want to create an itinerary that is fascinating, fun and safe. You will want to take advantage of the lively culture, griping history and exciting recreational activities that your country has to offer.
After gathering all necessary information, your group will create a final PowerPoint presentation to be presented to the class in Spanish.
Be sure to include a map of the country you visited marked by the cities you visited at the beginning of your presentation.
Objective:
You will have completed the quest and become experts on traveling in a Spanish Speaking Country!
As veteran travelers, you will be able to:
research information about a foreign country;
use math and language skills to process travel information;
use computer technology to create interesting presentations on Mexico;
make informed decisions about foreign travel based on your research.
These are real-world issues about which people make decisions every day. Hopefully, you will learn how to look at the pros and cons of travel to any foreign destination before spending any of your hard-earned money! What do you think? How did this experience change your opinion of travel abroad? Why is it important to respect and tolerate people's culture? How is travel both educational and fun?
PROCESS:
Each member of your FOUR person group will choose a role. You need to fully assume the role of your character to succeed as a group. For more information, click on each of the roles listed below:
After choosing your role, you and your group will select which city in your country to begin your journey.
From there, look at a map of and decide which 3 cities you will visit. Of course, you may visit more than three! (start your powerpoint, add the map, and mark the cities!)
As a group, estimate how much money you will spend for air fare, hotels, transportation, souvenirs, activities, tips, and food. (THERE IS A BUDGET. that's real life! You only have 2500 PER PERSON for a budget) How you arrange the money PER group is up to you. IE: travel agent many need the most money for their job, with airfare and hotels. So 2500x 4 is $10,000 total. PER group of 4. Have a group of 3, ombit the trip manager, and still 2500 per person total.
You will storyboard your portion of the Power Point presentation using note cards. Included should be facts to be presented, pertinent graphics, sources, and slide layout. Remember there is a five-slide minimum for each group member's presentation. This is meant to be a guideline, but does not limit you to only five slides. Storyboards should be turned in to the teacher for review.
You should then create your slides and get together with your group members to compile your work into one large Power Point presentation on your country. These presentations will be shown to the class. The presentation to your class for content, will be in Spanish.
Also remember, powerpoints are BRIEF, and to the point. They're a GUIDE.
You should NOT be writing full sentences etc. YOU talk and tell.
