Application categories allow Umbrella to block traffic on an application basis. An application setting could be configured to block, for example, NordVPN, Netflix, and Steam. Application blocking can also be enabled on a group basis, which would allow blocking, for example, gaming, anonymizing (VPN), and shopping applications.
Creating an Application Setting
Navigate to "Application Settings" under the "Policies" menu in the left sidebar. Click the "Add" button.

Give the Application Setting a name, then choose applications for which to block traffic from the list presented. Click "Save" when finished.

Adding an Application Setting to a policy
Navigate to "All Policies" under the "Policies" menu in the left sidebar. Click the policy's box to expand it, then click "Edit" under "Application Setting Applied".

Choose the new Application Setting from the "Applications Settings" dropdown menu, then click "Set & Return". Then, click "Save".
