Umbrella offers two methods of bypassing filtering: bypass codes and bypass accounts. A bypass code or account can be configured to bypass all blocks, or can be configured to block only certain categories or destination lists. To manage bypassing settings, look under the "Admin" section of the left sidebar.
A bypass code, unlike a bypass account, is required to be set to expire after a certain date. It may be useful to cycle through bypass codes in case, for example, a student comes across a bypass code and begins using it to access blocked content.
A bypass account cannot be set to expire automatically after a certain date, and requires an account to be created.
Creating a bypass code
Navigate to "Bypass Codes" under the "Admin" menu. Click the "Add" button in the top right corner.
Creating a new bypass code
Give the bypass code a name, then determine what content blocks the code should be able to bypass. Select a date and time for the code to expire - if desired, the code can be set to expire exceedingly far into the future to effectively ensure it does not go away. Click "Save" when finished.
Changing bypass code settings
After saving the code's settings, return to the "Bypass Codes" menu to find the code itself.

Creating a bypass user
See Managing accounts for instructions to create a new account or invite a pre-existing account. Select "Block Page Bypass" as the level of privilege.
Once an account has been created, navigate to "Bypass Users" under "Admin" in the left sidebar. Click the "Add" button in the top right corner.
Adding a bypass user
Add a description for the bypass user, then select the desired user from the dropdown box. Choose the categories and/or destination lists the user should be allowed to bypass. Click "Save" when finished.
