A WebQuest Designed by Dr. Theresa
Dr. Michael Muir, the creator of the Meaningful Engaged Learning Model, is in constant demand to share his learning model and other insights in education to teachers across the United States. He can't fulfill all the requests for public appearances, so he has decided to create a Web site that demonstrates, as well as explains, the model. Dr. Muir has put out a Request for Proposal (RFP) for companies that want to win the contract for designing the new Meaningful Engaged Learning Web site. You and your co-workers at one of America's premiere Web 2.0 design firms have been invited to submit a proposal.
The RFP states that the new Web site must not only explain the model in a variety of ways but that it must exemplify the Model in the way that it presents the information. (Who would believe a meaningless and un-engaging Web site about something that's supposed to be meaningful and engaging?) The first feature of the Web site is that the viewer will click on whether they want to learn about the model in an aural (auditory), visual, or physical (kinesthetic) way. If you win the contract, you will have the opportunity to build such a creative Web site.
Because Dr. Muir knows that thousands of companies are planning to submit proposals, therefore, there will be two rounds of competition. In Round One, finalists will be determined based purely on a sample digital presentation of the MEL model. Dr. Muir will gather a group of leading Web 2.0-using educators to judge the first round proposals. You will not be in the room to explain anything when the judges rate your presentation; it must speak for itself digitally. If your sample is one of the top 10 selected, then you will be asked to participate in Round Two of the competition to be the Web designing team who wins the bid to create the MEL Web site.
Good luck! This could be the career break you are looking for!
