*Supervisor Information
Thank you for being a part of the Federal Work Study (FWS) Program. Here is some information for you to review...
The FWS program is a need based, federally-funded program. Eligibility is determined by the student's FAFSA application.
Federal Regulations state that students cannot work more than 20 hours a week.
If the student works another, non-FWS job on campus, the college imposes additional restrictions on the number of hours he/she may work.
You will need to work out a schedule with your student worker.
After the hiring process the chosen student will meet with Rachel Cavenaugh in the Financial Aid office to pick up their work study packet. In this packet is a contract that you, the student and Rachel Cavenaugh will sign. It will state the award amount, start/end, rate of pay and the hours a student can work per week (max is 20).
The award amount is the amount the student can earn for the year (not the semester). Once that limit is reached the student will not be eligible to work. Please work with the student to keep track of this information.
A FWS student must maintain at least half-time enrollment at CFCC (6 credits per semester) in order to remain eligible.
FWS employment eligibility will be terminated if the student graduates, withdraws, drops below half-time and/or are dismissed from the college.
Federal regulations prohibit students from working during scheduled class times.
A student may be permitted to work between terms and on breaks (as long as the college is open and they will be supervised).
In order to remain employed, all FWS students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and follow the Student Code of Conduct while in class and at the work place.
SAP requires a cumulative 2.0 GPA and 67% completion rate. If a student is on Financial Aid WARNING or SUSPENSION they are NOT eligible to work.
Time Sheets must reflect the time the student worked. Please make sure to sign the time sheet and submit it to Rachel Cavenaugh in the Financial Aid office. You will be notified when time sheets are due.
Any student who misuses college equipment or supplies, or commits any serious infraction of CFCC's Code of Student Conduct will be subject to disciplinary action by the appropriate campus authority.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact Rachel Cavenaugh with any questions.
