*Congrats on your FWS position!
Congratulations on your position as a Federal Work Study student!!! Here are a few points to remember:
This job allows you to gain experience in a professional environment and you must look at this opportunity as a "real" job.
If you are sick or cannot report to work, please contact your supervisor immediately.
You have signed a contract for this position. The contract displays your award limits and YOU must keep track of this. When you're awarded amount runs out you will not have funds to continue working. You are also not guaranteed this award. You must earn it in order to receive it.
Ask your supervisor if there are any additional expectations and policies you must follow.
You cannot work more than 20 hours a week (per Federal Regulations).
If you work another, non FWS job on campus, the college imposes additional restrictions on the number of hours you may work.
Federal regulations prohibit students from working during scheduled class times.
You may be permitted to work between terms and on breaks. As long as the college is open and your supervisor has work for you to do; you can work. You must be supervised at all times.
You must maintain at least half-time enrollment at CFCC (6 credit hours per semester) in order to remain eligible for FWS.
Your FWS employment eligibility will be terminated if you graduate, withdraw, drop below half-time and/or are dismissed from the college.
In order to remain employed, all FWS students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and follow the Student Code of Conduct while in class and at the work place.
SAP requires a cumulative 2.0 GPA and 67% completion rate. If you are on Financial Aid WARNING or SUSPENSION you are NOT eligible to work.
Time Sheets- you can find your time sheet under the "Time Sheet" tab. Please note that falsification of time on your time sheet is a crime. Any student who falsifies hours worked will be referred to the appropriate campus authority for investigation and possible disciplinary action.
Any student who misuses college equipment or supplies, or commits any serious infraction of CFCC's Code of Student Conduct will be subject to disciplinary action by the appropriate campus authority.
If you have not done so, please see Rachel Cavenaugh in the Financial Aid office to complete your "New Hire Paperwork."
Have a great semester and if you have any questions please feel free to contact Rachel Cavenaugh with any questions.
