Advanced Science Research

One of the key beliefs at Madison Country Day School (MCDS) is that all students possess an extraordinary capacity to learn. Student testimonial

I'm planning to graduate in June with a BS in biology with a specialization in cancer biology. Since my first year at UChicago I've worked in Dr. Lucy Godley's lab studying germline genetic predisposition to hematopoietic malignancies. It's a really great group, and I've been able to secure undergraduate research funding every year and publish a couple of things with Lucy. I got into a pretty cool program this past year--The Beckman Scholars Program--which will fund me up until the end of next summer. I was writing a paper recently to publish the findings of a short virtual project that I did during Covid when a Japanese research group reached out wanting to collaborate, and their PI is pretty famous--Seishi Ogawa--so that's very exciting! The experience I gained during the ASR program definitely kickstarted all of this.
