Students have many opportunities to volunteer and to serve in leadership positions in the clubs and organizations offered at LGHS. In addition, students my apply for leadership groups outside of the high school.

Ardmore Youth Leadership Program

The Ardmore Chamber of Commerce accepts applications from sophomores and juniors. The Mission is to develop the leadership capabilities of Ardmore area youth by providing opportunities to learn about their community and themselves in preparation for service and college. Boys and Girls State

Applications Due: February

If you are a good citizen who would enjoy a week of intensive focus on democracy, state government, citizenship and patriotism, please consider applying to be a delegate to Boys State or Girls State. Sign-up in the counseling office in February of your junior year. Your names will be submitted to the American Legion who will select the delegates. Please check with the counseling office or the local American Legion or American Legion Auxiliary for more information. The camps are usually at the end of May/first of June (often during Memorial Day). Delegates must stay the entire time. Boys State is usually at NEO in Miami, OK. Girls State is usually at OU in Norman.

Oklahoma Boys State Oklahoma Girls State

Boys and Girls State is a nation-wide program, focusing on the promotion of good citizenship, democracy, and patriotism. It is a non-partisan youth program designed to enhance the love of God and Country.
