Juniors and Seniors may concurrently enroll in college courses through Murray State College. The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education provide seniors with a tuition waiver, but fees and books are paid by the student. Juniors are responsible for all expenses.
Read more about it on the MSC website:
Juniors and seniors must have an ACT composite score of 19 or above or a 3.0 gpa.
LGHS Concurrent Enrollment Steps:
1. Read the contract, then sign it and give it to your parent/guardian. After they read and sign it, return it to Mrs. Wade or Mrs. Robson.
These are some of the guidelines on the contract:
· Enrolling at Murray State College for college credit is an opportunity that is offered to juniors and seniors scoring a 19 on the ACT/preACT or have a 3.0 gpa and a 19 on a subtest.
Students must apply for admission to Murray State College and complete the enrollment process. Up to 18 hours of tuition for seniors will be waived by Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education; however, the student is responsible for books and fees.
Juniors are responsible for all tuition, fees, and books unless a junior tuition waiver is offered. For this current school year, 6 hours of tuition only were waived for juniors. Please contact MSC Advisors if you have any questions about tuition and fees.
Students must email or bring a copy of their enrollment schedule to the counselor’s office.
Students must confirm that the counselor receives the final semester grade. If no grade is provided, the high school credit for the college class will be an “F”. Grades will be calculated into the GPA.
If a student withdraws from a concurrent course, they must notify the counselor and request a schedule change within 1 (one) day of withdrawal. The student will be enrolled in courses at the high school and may receive “N” credit. If the student withdraws and fails to request a schedule change, the student will earn an “F” for the concurrent enrollment periods. It is the responsibility of the student to verify with the high school counselor that they will meet graduation requirements prior to withdrawing from a concurrent enrollment course. Note: future financial aid eligibility may be in jeopardy if students withdraw or fail concurrent college courses.
Students with less than a 2.0 gpa in the college courses will not be allowed to enroll in concurrent college classes for the remainder of high school.
2. Apply for admission to Murray State College online at www.mscok.edu , click Apply Online. On Reason for Attending, click High School Concurrent Enrollment. Anticipated Major, select Non-Degree Seeking.
3. Pay the application fee (usually $10)
4. Check the mail for your MSC acceptance letter and bring a copy of it to Mrs. Wade or Mrs. Robson.
