The LGHS Counseling Program addresses needs of all students, including those who are identified as at-risk, and is available to students, parents, and teachers in academic, career and personal areas. These services increase the probability of student success.

- ASVAB and PSAT testing for juniors
- ACT testing information
- Plans of Study
- Graduation checks for all students each year, including credits, personal financial literacy, CPR, and end-of-instruction testing
- Oklahoma’s Promise (formerly OHLAP) information to 9th and 10th graders and Oklahoma’s Promise graduation checks
- Concurrent enrollment information
- Information about careers and coordinate sophomore visits to Southern Oklahoma Technology Center
- College preparation information
- Scholarship Information
- College Fair, college visits and college application information
- Provide information to students and parents regarding Alternative Education (Longhorn Academy)
- End-of-Instruction testing information to parents, teachers, and students
- AP Coordination – class enrollment, requirements, provide testing information to students and parents, order and administer AP exams
- 8th Grade Reading Proficiency Testing monthly and course proficiency testing (upon request)
- Counsel with students and parents about academic problems and tutoring
- Prepare academic achievement and scholarship assembly programs for students, parents, and community

Youth suicide in our state is a major public health problem. Suicide is the second leading cause of death for young people in Oklahoma. Helpful resources on ways to prevent suicide in your school and community can be found at this OK State Department of Education website.
