The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is a federal law that provides eligible employees with up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave for certain family and medical reasons. This may include your own serious health condition, caring for an immediate family member, or the birth, adoption, or placement of a child. 

During FMLA leave, your health benefits are maintained, and you are entitled to return to your same or an equivalent position upon your return. 

On July 16, 2020, Wage and Hour Division announced a Request for Information (RFI) to be published in the Federal Register seeking the public's feedback on the administration and use of the law.
