We’re Going to the Zoo

The first grade class is going to the Louisville Zoo on Wednesday, May 17th. Parent helpers that have background checks on file with the school are invited to attend with us. Since this is a first grade school trip other children cannot go with our group. Please return permission slip and payment to school by Friday, May 12th.

Safari Live Session

The first grade went on a live Safari trip April 19th thanks to WildEarth. SafariLive is an award-winning daily, interactive broadcast, hosted by expert safari guides and streamed LIVE to the internet directly from South Africa’s Kruger National Park. During our safari the students could ask Tristen our guide questions about what they were viewing. Some questions asked were about the temperature and weather of South Africa, what animals live there, and what the animals eat. We saw warthogs, impala, lions, insects, and birds. Unfortunately we did not see the park’s big animals that includes leopards, rhinos, elephants and buffalos on this trip...maybe next time. It was still a fun trip.

We Play Project: Playground Renovation & Expansion

Our current playground was created in 1994. Our student population has increased by 50%, which does not allow 2 grade levels on the playground at one time. We Play Project will expand the existing playground and create a new 4-6 playground. This project will cost around $140,000, including equipment, ground prep and ground coverings. We have launched a Go Fund Me campaign for $30,000. Our hope is to find grant money to cover the remaining cost. Please consider donating to our We Play Project. Our playground is an essential element in our students educational process. It is on the playground where children develop leadership skills, develop friendships, learn collaboration and compromise. We are also taking monetary donations at the school. Our goal is to have the new playground installed for play by fall of 2018. https://www.gofundme.com/we-play-lanesville-playground-proj
