Welcome,
Over the next year we will examine significant events, movements, and patterns that have helped shape the modern world. The plight of the individual, the impact of revolutions, and the destruction brought by war will guide us through the school year. While our emphasis will be on the 19th and 20th centuries, we will delve deeper into history to connect modern forms of democracy, culture, and conflict to their historical roots.
Identify the effects of new and old ideas on major eras and link them to modern modes of thought. Integrated understanding of Economic factors, historical context, and impact on the global stage
Develop an understanding of current world problems and relate them to their historic, geographic, cultural, political, and economic contexts.
Trace the founding and development of democracy in addition to its impact.
Examine the age-old struggle of humankind to achieve freedom, fight oppression, overcome tremendous barriers, and protect human rights.
Become familiar with cultures and religions different from your own.
Our goal in:
Global Connections is to understand the world as a whole. Students will learn locations of countries, languages spoken there, Major world religions, War, Struggle and resilience. Basic Geography skills are learned and tested along with economic/natural resources and the importance of trade. Finally an introduction to World political systems will be addressed.
U.S. History II is to understand America history from the Stock Market collapse in 1929 to the 9/11 attacks in 2001. This is an entire school year course.
Econ is to offer a basic understanding of Micro and Macro Economic topics. The focus will be on factors of production, World economic models, and personal finance knowledge.
