Hello KAVEMEN/CHARGERS!!!
Welcome to Kuna High/Swan Falls High Schools. I know for some, making the transition from Middle School to High School will be difficult. Here is some information, ideas and pitfalls I have seen in my years here at KHS.....I hope it helps.
1. COMMUNICATE with your TEACHERS. FOR EXAMPLE.....If you come to class late DO NOT SNEAK INTO CLASS. Odds are your teacher has already taken roll and you have been marked ABSENT. Approach your teacher and explain the situation.....COMMUNICATION IS CRITICAL FOR SUCCESS!! :)
2. COME TO SCHOOL....Attendance is very important for success. You will be given a lot of freedom and with that freedom comes responsibility. If you skip school you will be caught.....MAKE GOOD CHOICES....:)
3. KNOW YOUR GRADES!!!!!!! When asked what your grade is you should know it! FAMILYLINK allows INSTANT ACCESS TO GRADES...PARENTS PLEASE KNOW YOUR LOGIN AND PASSWORD...Let me know if you need assistance.
4. TURN ALL ASSIGNMENTS IN ON TIME!!! Late assignments result in LOST POINTS!
5. BE RESPECTFUL.... Remember the golden rule.....If you do not know what it is see me when you get to KHS!
6. DO NOT BULLY PEOPLE. If you feel you are a victim of bullying please find an adult you trust or CONTACT ME ASAP....Together we will resolve the issue. I CARE ABOUT YOUR SAFETY!
7. Know your teachers CELL PHONE POLICY. Cellphones have been tied to academic dishonesty. This is the main reason teachers are concerned with cellphone access during school time.
8. You can earn 16 or more credits each school year. You should strive to PASS EVERY CLASS and EARN credits towards graduation. You have to accumulate a certain amount of CORE Credits! Check with your counselors to determine what they are. REMEMBER COMMUNICATION IS KEY!
9. Attend Study group if needed. Extra help can usually be found in the library after school. USE THIS RESOURCE if needed.
10. GET TO CLASS ON TIME. Too many tardies and you will receive an "NC" on your report card! NC means "No Credit"...usually because of an attendance issue. Do not let this happen to you!
I hope the above information helps you at Kuna High School. Remember to enjoy the journey and find "the balance" in your life for academic success.
Good Luck!!!
