There is a $120 rental fee for school instruments (baritone, oboe, french horn, bass clarinet, tuba, tenor/baritone saxophone, bassoon) and a $75 fee for all percussionists. The fee covers the rental of:
A school owned euphonium/baritone, bass clarinet, baritone saxophone, french horn or tuba. This translates into a rental fee of about $13 a month (for the school year) to rent an instrument.
Percussion equipment used at the school during the school day. Again, this translates into a rental fee of about $8 a month (for the school year) to use the equipment. This fee covers the cost of parts of the percussion equipment that wear out (like drum heads) and need to be replaced after multiple players play on the equipment all day long.
Students are Responsible for damage to the school rented instrument that is beyond normal wear and tear.
At the beginning of the school year, all students who wish to rent a school instrument will be videotaped holding the issued school instrument. At that time, the student may point out any existing damage and/or dents. Students will not be responsible for any of the existing damage. At the end of the school year, the tapes will be reviewed and the instruments will be checked for any additional damage. A repair technician will determine a price to fix the instrument. A fine slip will be emailed home for the cost of the repairs. Many students in the past have taken good care of their instruments and no extra charges were incurred.
