Welcome, 6th Grade Band Students!

In Spring of each year, the Band instructors meet with incoming 6th grade students to try instruments to find the best fit. Students will be able to try 2 instruments of their choice, and the teacher may suggest a third. If your child is unable to try instruments, please contact a band teacher for more information.

Please follow these three steps below to prepare for next year!

Step 1: Learn more about your 6th grade instrument choices below.

The Beginning choices for 6th Grade Band are Flute, Clarinet, Alto Sax, Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium, or Mallets.

Other advanced options are available in 7th grade (see bottom of page)

Step 2: Watch for an email from the directors with more information soon!

This email will also contain rental information, which is available on our site here.

Step 3: Reserve an instrument.

Euphoniums may be rented through the school. All other instrument choices need to be rented through a local music store. If your child will be playing an instrument you currently own, please make sure that it is in playing condition by taking it to a music store as soon as possible. If you would like to rent a school euphonium, send an email to Mr. Weiss at weissn@kmsd.edu to reserve your instrument.
