Rental Fees, Equipment Needed, What to bring to concerts
$75 Rental Fee for use of the percussion equipment
This fee covers the use of percussion equipment at school during the school day. All students who play percussion in the school district are charged this fee, since students do not bring their own percussion instruments to school. The rental fee is assessed due to the nature of equipment needed and the large amount of inventory a student will play on while a percussionist. Fees are used to replace worn equipment as needed and provide quality instruments for the students to use while at school. This is in addition to whatever practice instrument the student has at home (typically a bell set/practice pad).
Equipment need for class: sticks and mallets (please do not have students use the low quality sticks and mallets that are often included in the percussion combo kits. The equipment below is much nicer for them to use and is built to last.
1 pair of concert snare drum sticks –Vic Firth SD 1 Generals or Promark 2B with wood tips (ALL GRADES)
1 pair of rubber bell mallets for bell and xylophone playing like Smith L1R2 Medium Blue. (ALL GRADES)
1 pair of timpani mallets-Vic Firth T1 Generals (7th/8th Grade Only)
1 pair of wound medium hard mallets- like Mike Balter Blue-Medium Hard 13R for playing the suspended cymbals (7th/8th Grade Only)
1 stick bag to contain all sticks and mallets (label with students name) ALL GRADES
Here is a direct link to purchase from White House of Music. They will even deliver it to school!
**Percussionists will need to bring their own bells to certain concerts and/or events. Because of this, students should have their own bell kit, practice pad, and stick bag with the above listed sticks and mallets.
