I want to complete my FAFSA
Federal Student Aid provides useful tips and resources to assist in completing the FAFSA.
- The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available to complete online on October 1 each year. The FAFSA available in October is used to award financial aid for the academic year beginning the following August.
- If you are a dependent student for purposes of FAFSA (click here if you're not sure), you must complete the parent information sections of the FAFSA and have a parent sign with their personal FSA ID. If you are not sure which parent to use for your FAFSA please click here for more information about reporting parent information.
- Be sure to familiarize with these Tips and Common Mistakes
Watch for your Student Aid Report from FAFSA
Student Aid Report (SAR). Once you've been admitted, you will receive a Student Aid Report with the results of your FAFSA. When it arrives, make sure to check your SAR for accuracy and make any necessary corrections.
Student Aid Index (SAI). Formerly the Expected Family Contribution (EFC), the Student Aid Index is used to determine how much financial aid you can receive. The amount is calculated from information provided on your FAFSA and will be listed on your Student Aid Report.
Verification. Your application may be selected for verification to confirm the information submitted on your FAFSA. If you are selected, the Financial Aid Office will notify you to complete the verification form and submit any required documentation. Most verification requests will come from the U.S. Department of Education.
Notification. Make sure to check your Financial Aid Award Notification In your college portal. Incoming first-year students should be notified no later than by mid-April. Follow the instructions to electronically, access, view, accept (or decline) each award, and submit your award notification through your college portal
I want to complete my PA State Grant Form
With the 2026-27 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) opening last month, the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) has been working to prepare our PA State Grant processing system, GrantUs℠ for the upcoming award year. We are now pleased to announce that processing for the 2026-27 PA State Grant Program has been initiated.
We ingested our first batch of FAFSA records overnight on October 14 and will continue to ingest received FAFSA records in batches, over the next week.
New this year, a pre-screening methodology allows us to perform immediate review of the student’s FAFSA data to determine whether the student meets initial PA State Grant applicant criteria through pre-eligibility checks (for example submitted a complete FAFSA, is a PA resident, not in default, etc.) If the student’s FAFSA data passes these initial checks the student’s record will be created in GrantUS.
An account activation notice will be sent after the student’s FAFSA data successfully passes the pre-screening process if the student does not have an existing account.
Activation notices will be sent from noreply@grantus.pheaa.org.
Activation notices are time sensitive and will expire after 5 days. If the student does not access the link before it expires, they can use Forgot Password on the GrantUS log in page.
Students that have an existing account are not required to make a new account but instead should log in with their existing credentials. Students can select Forgot Password on the login page if they do not remember their password.
