Here is what we are studying during the month of December:
Literacy: 1st graders will continue to work with fiction and non-fiction text selections centered around "why light and dark come and go". We will use text features to help us locate information and story structure to make and confirm inferences and predictions. We will be writing "how-to" (procedural) texts, letters, lists, and poems.
Math: We will be working on a unit around telling time, identifying shapes, and measuring.

Social Studies: Our Unit of Study this month is called Civics: Notable People, Places, and Symbols. We will continue this unit by discussing and recognizing symbols of various winter holidays.
