In April our focus will be:
Literacy: 1st graders will be wrapping up Grow, Plants, Grow! and starting a module called Dare to Dream. We will continue to build fluency in reading as well as using the elements of fiction retell what we are reading. We will be learning about inventions and how to think in new ways to solve problems.

We will be writing many different types of writing including non-fiction writing, journal writing and narrative writing.

Math: We are working on reading graphs, on multidigit addition and subtraction, and fractions.

Science: Our plant and animal needs unit will pair with our Reading unit and we will be exploring and observing characteristics of plants and animals. We will have lots of fun growing plants and taking care of them.
Social Studies: We will be starting a unit on geography! From knowing our address to being able to read a map key, we will be learning more about where we live and how to read maps.
Social/Emotional Learning: Students are practicing and reviewing being Positive, Respectful, Responsible and Safe each day. We continue to build on problem solving skills and building relationships with others.
