Below are some videos of the demonstrations that occurred on Tuesday, Oct. 31st.
On Tuesday, Oct. 31st, students were to write about three observations:
1. Name and description of Demonstration
2. Is it a Chemical or Physical change?
3. Evidence of the change
Green Fountain (water heated up in a flask and placed into cold water beaker)
Bottle Rocket (Filled with ethanol alcohol and lit through small hole in cap.)
Leaky Faucet (Dry Ice (frozen carbon dioxide) with water sublimating (changing from solid to gas), then travelling through the tube and a small film of bubble fluid (soap) is placed on the end of the tube creating the bubble of carbon dioxide gas.
Burning Penny: Penny was heated up with bunsen burner then hung on a wire which was attached to a glass rod. The glass rod was then placed on a beaker with some Acetate. The acetone is a type of alcohol which is evaporating and is combustible. Observe how the penny appears to continue to burn without the presence of a flame!
Disappearing Cup: Styrofoam cup is placed in acetone which is a acidic liquid which appears to breakdown the solid shape of the cup.
Puking Pumpkin: Various liquids were combined and placed into a pumpkin which appears to puke out foam.
Time Lapse of Foamy Hand (two liquids combined and placed into rubber glove) and Disappearing Cup.
Tube of Wonders: Combined Manganese Dioxide, dishsoap, some glowstick liquid, and Hydrogen Peroxide combined in a large graduated cylinder.
