Report Cards

While most of Jackson R2 School District uses what is called Standards-Based Reporting, the special area teachers (Art, Music, and Physical Education) use a simplified format: S = Satisfactory, N = Needs Improvement, N/A = Not Applicable. Music grades are given quarterly.

Kindergarten students will learn and be graded over:

Melody (singing voice)

Rhythm (steady beat)

Form (changes in music)

Participation and Behavior (listening and following directions in class).

1st Grade students will learn and be graded over:

Melody (singing voice)

Rhythm (simple patterns)

Form (changes in music)

Participation and Behavior (listening and following directions in class).

2nd Grade students will learn and be graded over:

Melody (performing songs)

Rhythm (playing and reading simple patterns)

Form (distinguishing different forms in music)

Tone Color (recognizing different families of instruments)

Participation and Behavior (listening and following directions in class).

3rd Grade students will learn and be graded over:

Melody (performing songs)

Rhythm (playing and reading rhythm patterns)

Form (distinguishing different forms in music)

Tone Color (recognizing different families of instruments)

Participation and Behavior (listening and following directions in class).

4th Grade students will learn and be graded over:

Melody (performing songs)

Rhythm (playing and reading rhythm patterns)

Form (distinguishing different forms in music)

Notation (demonstrates a basic understanding of the staff)

Participation and Behavior (listening and following directions in class).
