Graduation Requirements & Information

Foundation High School Program - Beginning 2014-2015 students must sign an academic endorsement & meet the following criteria: A student must earn at least 26 credits & Ingleside High School requires students follow the 4x4 as most colleges and universities require 4 English, 4 Math, 4 Social Studies, and 4 Sciences.


English - Four credits. English I, II, III, and IV.


Mathematics - Three credits. (Four credits are required for colleges and universities). Three of the credits must consist of Algebra I, Geometry, and 1 advanced Math. The additional credit may be selected from the following courses: Mathematical Models with Applications, Algebra II, Precalculus; Independent study in Mathematics (Dual Credit); Advanced Placement (AP) Statistics; AP Calculus AB; AP Calculus BC.


Science - Three credits. (Four credits are required for colleges and universities). Three of the credits must consist of Biology, IPC, and Chemistry or Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. The additional credit may be selected from the following courses: Physics, Aquatic Science; Environmental Systems; Earth & Space Science or Anatomy and Physiology.


Social Studies - Three credits. (Four credits are required for colleges and universities). Three credits must consist of World Geography or World History; United States History; Government (one-half credit), Economics (one-half credit).


Physical Education - One credit. PE credit may be substituted through participation in the following activities: Athletics, JROTC; and Marching Band. A student with a physical limitation must still demonstrate proficiency in the relevant knowledge and skills in a physical education course that do not require physical activity.


Languages other than English - Two credits. The credits must consist of any two levels in the same language.


Fine Arts - One credit. The credit may be selected from the following courses: Art; Music (Band, Choir, Applied Music); Theatre.


Technology Applications - One credit. The credit may be selected from the following courses: Business Information Management I (BUSIM1); Digital and Interactive Media (DIMEDIA); Web Technologies (WEBTECH), or Graphic Design.


Speech/Health - One credit. The credit will be Professional Communications & Health


Elective Courses - Four credits. The credits may be selected from TEA's (Texas Education Agency) list of state approved courses (local credits will not satisfy this requirement) and must fulfill an endorsement pathway.


The number of credits earned each year determines grade level in high school.

Classification will be determined as follows:

Freshman - 1-5 credits

Sophomores - 6 credits & pass 3 of 4 core subjects

Junior - 12 credits & pass 6 of 8 core subjects

Senior - 18 credits
