Advanced Energy MaterialsPatrícia Soares's PhD research focuses on fabricating and characterizing water evaporation-induced generators. These devices are based on the interaction of water with a functional material during the natural and continuous process of water evaporation to generate a continuous energy output. Her primary work is focused on bio-waste-derived activated carbon to fabricate functionalized materials, however she is testing other types of materials like carbon nanotubes and Mxenes. Her work includes characterizing the developed materials using multiple techniques, followed by their application in the generators for electrical characterization, to understand the properties that will result in the best performance.
