• accurately reflect the learner outcomes within the programs of study;
• generate evidence of student learning to inform teaching practice through a balance of formative and summative assessment experiences;
• provide a variety of methods through which students can demonstrate their achievement of the learning outcomes;
• provide accurate, constructive and timely feedback on student learning; and
• support the use of reasoned judgment about the evidence used to determine and report the level of student learning.
In 2016-17, Horizon was lucky to bring Sharon Skretting on board for a two-year secondment as our division assessment coach. Sharon's role is to support and work alongside all division teachers in helping promote best practices in assessment.

Not only has Sharon created tools to support you in your classroom, but it is also part of her role to visit schools on an ongoing basis to provide personalized, elbow-to-elbow support to you in your classroom. Check with your principal for information on Sharon's availability at your school.
