Welcome to Math 30-2
In this program of studies, studies Students will learn how to:
Analyze puzzles
Solve problems that involve the application of set theory.
Solve Problems of Probability, Permutations and Combinations
Algebraically work with Rational Expressions and Equations
Algebraically work with Logarithms and Exponential EQUATIONS
Graphically (VISUALLY) work with Logarithms and Exponential FUNCTIONS
Represent data of Polynomial Functions
Represent data of Sinusoidal Functions
RESEARCH and give a presentation on a current event or an area of interest that involves mathematics.
Students will use a textbook:
Students are expected to have an approved graphing calculator, typically this is the TI-84 Series Calculator:
Students are expected to bring a binder, loose leaf paper and a pencil for each class.
Assessment:
Quizzes 20%
Unit Exams 60%
Research Project 10%
Final Exam 10%
Total 100%
**The course evaluation comprises only 70% of your overall course mark. All students are required to write an Alberta Diploma Examination which comprises the other 30% of their overall course mark. In order to pass the course you must successfully pass the in class evaluation and diploma evaluation.
Extra Math Help is available upon request.
