There is a NEW emphasis in the course direction, that is, students will be more DIRECTLY INVOLVED in concrete problem solving, developing strategies to learn how to solve problems not just arriving at an answer. This provides a great challenge on both the part of the teacher and students. The students will NOT be given a question and wait for the teacher to tell them the answer, nor show them how to do it. Students will collaborate with other students and the teacher will help focus their learning process. I hope that the projects and differing instructional strategies will provide for a much deeper appreciation and understanding of the mathematical world.

Re-writes of Assessments
Students who wish to convey that they can demonstrate the student outcomes with a greater level of proficiency must complete the following BEFORE an assessment is considered:
1) They must have FAILED the outcome
2) The student must have shown that they COMPLETED the assigned review
3) The student will correct the errors on the test that they want to be reassessed (This can happen with teacher assistance or peer assistance)
4) The student will identify and communicate which specific outcome(s) that they think they need to be re-assessed.
5) The student will get a different SAMPLE which will assess the same outcome.
6) This must be done within 1 week of getting a test back.
7) IF YOU HAVE AN UNEXCUSED ABSENCE FOR AN EXAM YOU WILL NOT HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY FOR A REWRITE AND WILL TAKE A 0.
