How to be ready for a Speech Tournament

• Get a good nights sleep

• Get all your clothes and items together the night before

• Set two alarms to make sure you have enough time in the morning

• Meet the bus at TT no later than 6:15 am

• Stay at the cafeteria table to receive your critique sheet and code

• Completely warm up your piece out loud several times to a wall or team member

• Find your rooms

• Take some deep breaths before you go in and at your desk

• Bring a water bottle

• Be a good audience member from everyone in the round

• Keep talking to a minimum 

• No Cell phone usage - make sure it is off

• Say thank you to your judge when you leave or excuse yourself

• Don't let judge see you warm up before you start

• Acknowledge your judge before you begin

• Walk up and sit down with confidence.

• Hold your ending a couple beats before you sit down.

• Have fun sharing your piece(s)!
