Objective: Multiply Polynomials
The process of multiplying polynomials focuses primarily on using the techniques of the distributive law for multiplication and the rules for exponents.
To multiply two monomials together, multiply the coefficients and then multiply the variables by using the product rule for exponents. To multiply a monomial with a polynomial, multiply each term of the polynomial by the monomial. The video below demonstrates both of these scenarios.
When multiplying polynomials with polynomials, you must use the distributive law to multiply each term of the first polynomial with each term of the second polynomial. After multiplying, remember to combine like terms, if possible. Watch the video to see this process demonstrated.
