A horizontal line runs parallel to the x-axis, so all of the points on a horizontal line have the same y-coordinate. A vertical line runs parallel to the y-axis, so all of the points on a vertical line have the same x-coordinate. The equation of a horizontal line has the form y = c, in which c is some constant. The equation of a vertical line has the form x = c, in which c is some constant.
Horizontal lines and vertical lines can be graphed by generating a table of values; however, they can be graphed more quickly once the connection between the equations and graphs for these types of lines is understood. Watch the video below.
