Summary: What are infectious diseases? How do they transmit in a population? How do we detect them? How can we prevent their transmission? This course is designed to give an introduction and overview to this very important topic. Students will learn the major routes of transmission of infectious diseases and their prevention measures. Students will learn the basics of infectious disease surveillance and outbreak investigation and control. Examples will be drawn from diseases in the US and overseas, from textbooks to Dr. Fung's own academic research and CDC work experience.
