We provided opportunities for our students to participate in national competitions so that they may have better exposure to the wider world of academia and public health.
CDC Predict the Influenza Season Challenge
One recent example is our participation in the CDC Predict the Influenza Season Challenge competition, in the 2013-14 Influenza Season. Our students formed a team together with students from The University of Georgia College of Engineering. Dr. Isaac Fung (Georgia Southern) and Dr. Zion Tse (UGA) servef as their advisors and Dr. Manoj Gambhir (Monash University, Australia) served as their consultant. This was a wonderful learning experience for our students. See our video:
