Course Objectives
This course aims to help students in the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine practice their English within the context of medical humanities. Teaching materials cover the selected readings on real-world medical-related topics, allowing students to acquire the abilities of English they need for future professional success. Students are required to make an oral presentation based on the selected readings. In addition, students are also expected to write a summary of the assigned readings. All students are divided into small groups; each group consists of 2-3 students.
Teaching Methods
1. Lectures on academic writing, reading strategies, and oral presentation skills in English.
2. Through critically thinking and reading the selected articles, it is supposed that students can raise their awareness of language use in the field of medical humanities.
3. Each individual student is required to make an oral presentation and write a summary of the assigned reading; it is hoped that students can improve their ability to construct an appropriate structure and make effective use of English expressions.
Course Description
This course aims to help students in the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine acquire the abilities of English they need for their future careers. The selected readings on medical humanity-related topics are covered. Each student is required to make an oral report based on the assigned reading and write a summary. By the end of the course, students are expected to build up their fluency and boost their confidence in English.
