Knowing and recognizing famous repertoire and composers is as important as music literacy and developing the students' singing voices. We will study a different composer each year from Kindergarten through 5th grade, as well as, a thorough study of "The Nutcracker Ballet" by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky every December.
- Kindergarten - “The Carnival of the Animals” by Camille Sain-Saens
- First Grade - "Peter and The Wolf" by Sergei Prokofiev
- Second Grade - "Guide to the Orchestra" by Benjamin Brittain and "Instrument of the Orchestra Unit" - a thorough study of all the families of the orchestra
- Third Grade - Opera Study Trip to see "Three Billy Goats Gruff", music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, as well as study "Hansel and Gretel" by Engelbert Humperdinck
- Fourth Grade - "The Symphonies of Ludwig Van Beethoven", specifically Symphony #3 (Eroica), Symphony #5, Symphony #6 (Pastorale), and Symphony #9
- Fifth Grade - Plano Symphony Study Trip, as well as a history of "The Star Spangled Banner" written by Francis Scott Key, music by John Stafford Smith
