That's More Like It

Not that it's actually working yet. Just that it's the sort of problems I was expecting to have rather than the problem where I don't have the software running at all....

I started going through my samples to see if I had any good ones yet. The first thing you notice is that I have more than 20 thousand of these:

What's that you ask? That is a big ol' nuthin' Yup there's something wrong with my threshold determination of when something has entered the frame. That's the cameras eye view of the enclosure when there's nothing there. I literally just deleted 20 thousand of them.

Which means when I do capture the cat it's just luck. Although it's a little fun if you just click through the images in order it's a little like a really low res movie.

The next thing I noticed was that I need to move my camera back a few inches.

WHAT'S THAT YOU SAY? SPEAK UP SONNY I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!!

I originally assumed the mirror in the Flo Control project was because of the camera he was using and it needing to sit length wise. Now I wonder if it wasn't at least in part intentional. It makes a good way to move the camera back a bit.

So my question. Do I mount it side ways next to the door and get a mirror in there? Or just stick a little box on the outside a couple inches away... Time to go grab the cats head and see how close the camera can be and still get a decent picture.
