Can you believe it is the last month of school? Second graders will stay busy this last month. Continue to remind students to work hard and follow the school rules.
Reading:
See the attached weekly skills for a detail of all reading skills. We will finish Unit 6, Week 4 the last week of April/first part of May. Our last reading Unit will be Unit 6, Week 5. Then We will review the week of May 13th. There will be no spelling test on the review week, however please practice priority words again.
Math:
Students will working on solving story problems. Then we will conclude the year with a step up to third grade unit. Students will be introduced to third grade math skills. Our last addition and subtraction timed test will be given in May as well.
Unit Studies:
We will be focusing on health and safety in May. Bullying and school safety are addressed as well as outdoor safety. The food plate is introduced to students along with healthy eating habits.
Writing: Students worked so hard on their animal research. They are working on presenting all the information that they learned. Second graders will spend the rest of the time in writer’s workshop working on creative writing in different ways.
Field Trip: Second grade will visit Morrill Hall in Lincoln on May 10th. A permission note and details will be sent home. Please let us know if you have any questions regarding the field trip.
Students will be completing the AIMS Web reading fluency assessment as well as the MAP-reading and math assessment this month. We encourage them to try their best. They have been such hard workers all year!
