Unit Studies:
We continue to work on learning about various objects in the sky. Second grade has been learning the phases of the moon, the sun and shadows. After the science unit is complete, we will be focusing on health and healthy habits.
Math:
Second graders will be telling time to the exact minute. Students can practice reading an analog clock to tell time to the minute. Then, we will begin with interpreting graphs and data. Continue to practice those addition and subtraction facts.
Writing:
We are hard at work writing animal research reports and preparing for our presentations. Students are organizing their reports over their animal’s appearance, diet, habitat and interesting facts. After they write their reports, they will be creating a poster share and writing a few notes on notecards to prompt their memory during their presentation. After the research presentations are complete, we will be taking a break from informational writing and writing persuasive writing pieces. We will encourage the students to use all the writing techniques they have learned in second grade to complete this last piece.
