Now that everything is done for this sheet, we would most likely need to send it to somebody else to check. To prevent tampering with the sheet, we can lock the sheet by utilizing the Protect Sheet option.
To get to that option, press Tools from the menu bar and then choose Protect Sheet.
That will pop up a dialog that asks who can edit the sheet, click on Only Me, and therefore nobody else can modify this sheet.
This may seem pointless at the moment, but as a google spreadsheet can be shared by many, you can imagine having some sheets in a shared workbook should stay locked if the data in there shouldn’t be changed anymore. Note: the use of workbook to refer to the entire file/set of sheets in a spreadsheet is common, but also sometimes sloppily replaced by just saying spreadsheet – to mean the entire set of sheets.
And thus, with that said, the most common data management through a large set has been done.
[QEx2.4] What are examples of why a sheet is locked but not the workbook when it’s shared? (*hint, think multiple sheets)
