Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.

• • Operator - math complete, reworking of 2nd operator in progress

    • Math verified with Dr. Ghazi

    • Reworking has some work to do:

      • select spring to make halves move in unison

      • select spring to resist torsion

      • interface w/ Mini WW

      • material selection

  • Spring cam design nearly complete

Accomplishments from Previous Week

• • Initial fatigue analysis of the spring cam

  • Verified mathematical model with professor and sponsors

    • Professor: model seems sound

    • Sponsor: the math makes sense, the more precise model would be preferred but that is beyond our capabilities as undergraduates

    • the spring cam design should be reworked so that the fatigue factor of safety is higher than 1.5 

      • plan to verify GDT with Rishabh

      • discovered issues with fatigue analysis on SolidWorks, plan on doing hand calculations

    • operator math is good, so long as we can verify that the solution is acceptable with SIO we're in good shape

      • discussed math with SIO - we have a bit of tweaking to do

      • plan to work more on operator
