Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Panels have been fully made and are operating as intended
tests are being run and the panel is being tuned and optimized
updating design for aluminum panels
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Speed tests run on PCB - Harald
2.0 ran smoothly
3.0 maxed out at the maximum possible speed, but tended to drop in speed when the panels moved around too much
Locking mechanism tuning was attempted - Trent
3D printer did not have high enough resolution to accurately reflect the changes that we made
Research done into whether aluminum can be used for the flex joint or if we will be required to mount spring steel - Jesse
Aluminum will work for this, but the joint will need to be made thinner
Aluminum has been used for this purpose in the past
Electrical isolation runways mounting system determine - Leigh
We will be using a key slot to slide in the plastic runways to the panel
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
CAD and completed design for electrical isolation runways are completed and ready to be sent to the sponsor - Leigh / Harald
FEA analysis done on different tunes of the flex join to try to optimize the joint theoretically - Trent
Full design procedure and BOM for the Aluminum panel created and ready to be sent to sponsor - Jesse
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
We had changed the shape of the U-dots slightly in order to have a flat face on the dots for the flex-joint to lock on. The sponsor preferred that we did not put that flat face on the U-dots.
As a compromise we left all the dots with the original design except the one dot used for locking
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Needs to run life cycle analysis on the flex joint
We ran the analysis by treating the joint as a cantilever and manually doing the math
