Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Most analysis at this point was accomplished during the risk reduction phase. At this point we are trying to adapt our project timeline and goals to accommodate working remotely.
We have started discussing and planning how we want to redesign and incorporate the design changes the sponsor requested.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Determined new project scope.
Started creating a 3D CAD model of the current motor geometry.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Make design decisions on what material to use for the new stator (PETG, polycarbonate, etc) and manufacturing process (3D print or water jet).
Determine what cooling fluid to use.
Start to design cooling fluid reservoir and how to incorporate it with current model geometry.
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Sponsor wants to make minimal changes to current motor structure.
New coils are to be manufactured and added to motor.
Redesign stator to be 3D printed.
Design and incorporate a cooling fluid reservoir to increase cooling of coils.
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Cooling fluids can be expensive and can be hard to seal (some 3D printed materials are porous and can leak). Make sure these concerns are taken into account.
Prof. T will look into if UCSD will be able to provide 3D printing services.
